a embebição (primeira parte do processo de germinação) ocorre simplesmente por difusão, portanto é um processo físico, que ocorre mesmo em sementes mortas. Nas fases posteriores o embrião tem que estar vivo para que a germinação se complete. Quando feijões mortos pelo calor são postos para embeber, o processo se realiza da mesma forma que nas sementes vivas.
