[BDC] About the Biblioteca Digital de Ciências

Welcome to the LTE´s Digital Library!

This year we celebrate the 11th anniversary of the first software developed by the Educational Technology Lab (LTE): the software named COM (Oxygen Consumption by isolated Mitochondria). Since 1996, many sotwares were developed, four CD-ROMs published, papers awarded (Young scientist, by CNPq GERDAU FRM and PAPED by CAPES) and several software licenses were donated to public Universities and sold to private Universities.

This Digital Library had been released on April 2006 containing all softwares produced by the LTE. The LTE Digital Library intend to be a repository of peer-reviewed material for Science Education. We strongly encourage the science education community to submit softwares, images, thesis, monographs and original papers to LTE Digital Library. The content submitted will be peer-reviewed following the traditional process adopted in scientific publishing. The LTE Digital Library accepts submissions in Portuguese and English (submissions in Spanish are expected to be accepted soon). This portal contents are available for free and can be used freely as well. It includes the softwares´ source code, so that materials can be improved and adjusted to multiple contexts. In addition to these resources, the LTE Digital Library grants free access to original articles published in the Brazilian Journal (Magazine) of Biochemistry Education and Molecular Biology (RBEBBM).

Last but not least, LTE Digital Library also provides an opportunity to foster exchange among end users, researchers and developers: there is a discussion forum for every published material. Besides peer-reviewing, users may also post their comments and evaluate published material by grading it from 0 to 10.
